Nohea’s Dagger Concept
Since the character Nohea is currently low level and sort of wanders the wilderness on her own, I knew that I wanted her weapon to be simple and primitive. Even though I don’t get points for doing weapon concepts in ArtPG I decided to do it for myself to help detail out the character a little more.

Flimgurd
This is a flimgurd – he’s a variety of cave goblin that likes to pick on adventurers in a number of annoying ways. I made up for my laziness from yesterday by spending several hours on this one. The art nouveau style was done as part of a theme for the ArtPG project.

Nohea Sketch Revisited
While I was originally thinking this character would be in a slightly modern post-apocalyptic style setting, I decided I would have a lot more fun developing her if I stayed in the fantasy realm. The main thing that was giving her the modern appearance was the spaghetti strap top, so I went in and changed it. It’s sort of cheap to call this my daily image since I didn’t make it from scratch, but I feel pretty tired tonight. I figured this was better than nothing.

Now with less spaghetti!
Mossweb Hatchling
Another image done for the same project that the Nohea character comes from. It’s a low level mob that kills you with cute.

Is it can be hugs tiem now plees?
Nohea – Concept 2
A second concept I did of the character Nohea, focusing mostly on how the disfigured portion of her body might look. I’m not quite sure that I want to have to appear this grotesque yet, and in general the age of the girl portrayed here is younger and “cuter” than I would like. Also, painting screaming people is hard is hell. >_<

Nohea's Burden
Nohea – Concept Sketch
It’s been sooooo long since I drew something on paper, I’m completely out of practice and have almost completely forgotten how to do line art. I’m so used to taking a painterly approach to working that I may as well have done this with my feet, haha. However, I did want to come up with a concept sketch for a character I’m forming… so I got out the ol’ pencil and paper to do some doodling. I photographed it (too lazy to hook up the scanner) and brought it into Photoshop to clean it up and add some highlights. It’s sort of small – I shrunk it down so that it’s harder to see how bad it is, hahaha. >_>
Here is the story behind her:
Nohea was born with an unusual illness that may be viewed as either a blessing or a curse. Magical energy surges through her body, making her a potentially formidable foe – however she has yet to learn how to harness it without causing great injury to herself. While the disease spreads slowly on it’s own, any sort of emotional outburst can make the power boil to the surface and eat her body alive. By a early age she had already lost both her right arm and eye.
Being seen as a monster, Nohea was shunned from her village, left to wander the wastelands young and alone. While not quite savage, she is definitely more of a free spirit and does not conform well to the rules of modern society.

Nohea the Outcast
Female Profile
I rather like painting profiles, so I figured that’s what I would do today. I had also intended to have more visible brushstrokes, since I can be a bit blend-crazy… but I ending up smoothing a lot of them out anyway. Oops, hehe.

I think her ear is cute.
Video Test – Eye
I decided to try out that thing where people record their painting steps in Photoshop and upload the video. Unfortunately I’ve found that I’m very camera shy and while being recorded I paint more carelessly than I normally would. I imagine that with some practice I’d get used to it, but I’ve never liked people standing over my shoulder when I work and this is kind of the same thing, haha. So if you excuse the sloppiness of the picture I still think it’s rather fun to watch! I also made a test video of a kitty painting, which you could see here if you wanted. I don’t like either of them much honestly, but I need to show that I did do something the past couple of days. There was no sketch skippage yet! ;D
Classic Pose
I felt like doing something with fabric and I found a great little stock reference from DA. 1.5-2 hours on this one. I might go back and polish it later, but I do think there is a certain charm that comes with looser painted images like this.

Seated girl in a draping gown.
Zombie Cow
Another one of those things where I wasn’t quite sure what I had in mind to do when I started, and this is what came of it. I’m playing too much Left 4 Dead maybe.
About an hour.

Mad cow with a disease.
